WHY

A chain designed for the long run.

Familiar for builders

Full EVM support for Solidity, MetaMask, Hardhat, Foundry and ethers.js. Deploy existing contracts without rewriting a line.

Final in one block

CometBFT treats a block as final once two-thirds of validators commit it. Under its honest-majority assumptions there are no reorgs, so exchanges and apps can rely on a committed block.

Owned by its holders

Rewards, fees and burn rate change only by on-chain vote, inside limits written into the protocol itself.

APPLICATIONS

What you can build on Cockroach.

Full EVM support, one-block finality and native IBC cover the use cases people build blockchains for.

DeFi

Swaps, lending and vaults written in Solidity, settled final in one block.

Payments

Send and receive in about five seconds (design target), with fees that adjust predictably with demand rather than a fixed price.

Tokenization

Issue ERC-20 tokens for stablecoins, real-world assets or loyalty points.

NFTs and gaming

Mint collectibles and in-game items without fees that swing with demand.

DAOs

Run treasuries and on-chain votes, and call the governance module from a contract.

Cross-chain apps

Move assets to and from other Cosmos chains natively over IBC.

Staking products

Build delegation dashboards and staking tools on the staking precompile.

Identity and records

Anchor certificates, credentials and proofs on-chain that anyone can verify.

IBC connects compatible ecosystems

Applications speak EVM. Staking, governance and the burn run as native Cosmos SDK modules, reachable from Solidity through precompiled contracts. Consensus is CometBFT, and assets move to other chains over IBC.

Source monthly rate steps down to a 0.5% floor; governance can change parameters within stated limits.

Disinflation by design

The reward steps down 0.1% a month every year, with no compounding, until it settles at a 0.5% monthly floor.

Hard limits in code

Governance can raise or lower the rate at any time. It can never exceed 3% a month, whatever a vote says.

A burn on every block

Half of all gas fees is destroyed before rewards are paid. A public burn address removes tokens from buybacks permanently.

COCKROACH pays for every transaction, secures the chain through staking and carries the vote on every protocol change.

Proposals become collective decisions.
GOVERNANCE

Every rule is on the table.

Propose

Any holder can table a change to rewards, fees, burn share or validator rules with a deposit.

Vote

Voting power follows stake. Delegators can override their validator's vote on any proposal.

Protect

Expedited one-day votes can freeze addresses tied to exploits, keeping the community's funds safe.
